honeysuckle vines cape orange. They dont bloom. Why?

Question
I bought three with blooms then planted them. They haven't bloomed since. What's the problem? they are growing vines but no flowers. I the full sun.

Answer
Hi Shirley,
Thanx for your question.  Usually, when a blooming plant is transplanted or otherwise removed from the container in which it has been grown and it is put in the ground it will shock the plant enough to stop it from blooming but it won't kill it.  The plant will then spend the rest of the season or in some cases part of the season repairing its root system.  This will cause all of the energy it had been expending on blooms to be concentrated on restoring the root system.  It will come out of it.  Just keep it watered well (once a week if no regular rain) and fertilize with a balanced 12-12-12 fertilizer once every 10-14 days during the growing season.  Your vine may not bloom again this summer but honeysuckle is pretty hardy and my guess is that in a few weeks it may start blooming again.  I hope this helps.
Tom
