Casablanca Lilies

Question
My Casablanca lilies bloom with their heads drooping.  Their glorious trumpets face the ground, and this makes it difficult to use them for cut flowers. I live in Central Florida, and this is their second year of blooming. Any advice you can give will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Answer
Sally,
It's funny you mention Casablanca Lilies.I have a full bouquet of them right now. They are my favorites. I usually cut mine right before they open and bring them in to put in a vase. They open the next day or 2 days after that and they are lovely to watch as they open. I can't say I really have a problem with them drooping although it could be because they need to be staked or may not be getting enough sunlight. Try to get some bamboo stakes so that their stalks are always standing upright and straight and that they are receiving enough direct sunlight so that the blooms will open upward instead of drooping down. You may have to replant them in another location. They can be transplanted in the fall.Hope this is helpful info.
