QuestionI planted cala's 3 years ago. One clump is huge and I know it should be split. Can you please tell me when I should split. I live in Maryland,
they winter very well without storing the bulb.
One clump must have 30 separate shoots.
Many thanks,
Jan Davison
AnswerHi Jan,
Thanx for your question. It's wonderful that your callas have done so well. Not to worry about separating. Wait until the early fall. Lift the clump and shake off the dirt and you will be able to see how to separate the corms. It will be very obvious, the new forms. Go ahead and break them off. Allow them to dry outdoors in the sunlight for a few days. Store the corms in the dark, dry basement until spring after the last frost and replant. I hope this helps.
