Question State is Minneosta - zone around the Minneapolis/St. Paul. How do I get my lilles to bloom again. I know that they will bloom again this summer, but I'm not sure what I need to do to facilitate this. They are almost finished blooming for the first time this season. I want them to bloom again.
AnswerMelody, if these are Stella D'Oro Daylilies, they will be in bloom all summer long -- with the right kind of care.
They don't need beach-bright sun. But they need lots of light. You must have enough or they would not have bloomed already.
Stella D'Oro is incredibly popular because it is SO easy and it blooms SO long, right through to Autumn in most parts of the country INCLUDING MINNESOTA. Remove the spent flowers to encourage bloom and you can even dose them up with a High Phosphorous Fertilizer like Super Phosphate or Triple Phosphate -- just be careful you don't burn the leaves or roots, because that's strong medicine, and it will do more harm than good if you are not careful.
They should not be finishing bloom for months. It concerns me that you mention they are "almost finished blooming". You have another 2 months before you reach that point, minimum! RSVP Melody!
