QuestionI read where you answered a hydrangea question and you said you were from w. kentucky. I am too, and I was wondering if hydrangeas can grow (any type) in full sun. I have an area that gets the afternoon sun and I'd love to have hydrangeas in it.

They actually grow best in morning sun or afternoon sun.I mistakenly planted one in full sun this year and it is already looking bad. The sun scorches the leaves but it does bloom earlier in full sun. I think though that getting sun in the morning or late afternoon prolongs the bloom time.They don't bloom as early as the ones planted in full sun but the foliage looks better and the blooms come later in the summer but last longer.I will probably be moving mine out of it's full sun location to late afternoon sun location.
