Question
-------------------------
My jacob ladders have become so brown at the bottom. I water them quite often as they seem to get limpy so quickly. I planted these a month or so ago and I do have the little blue flowers blooming but the bottom of the plant is not looking good. I have given them miracle grow about 4 times since I planted them. Do I need to fertilize them more often? I have cut off most of the brown fern leaves at the bottom. The tag says growth: 12" mine are 24". What could be the problem with all the brown leaves towards the bottom? They are looking a little strange after trimming up at the bottom of the plant. As you can tell, I do not have a green thumb. They are in a semi shade area. I live in Minnesota. Any advise with these will be greatly appreciated.
AnswerPat,
Here are some links to find out more info on Jacob's Ladder. I have not had any personal experience with them although I do admire them. The last link I gave you I believe you will find of great interest as it pertains to your state and the rare Jacob's Ladder that was found there among others of your state. It seems you have a perfect location for them so I hope the info helps you.
