Care of Snap Dragon Plants

Question
I live in Northern California where it gets really hot (zone 9).  I recently purchased two snap dragon plants and planted one in mostly full sun and the other one gets the late afternoon sun.  The one with the least amount of sun looks like it's dying and the other one doesn't look too healthy either.  Do I need to move them to an area where it's cooler and less sun?
Thank you!

Answer
Hi Marsha,
Thanx for your question.  I live in Kansas.  We have terribly hot summers often over 100 degrees.  I lived in Monterey a while back and I remember the Sacramento area and the central valley (near Fresno) getting temperatures over 100 degrees in the summer.  The heat isn't the problem and the sun isn't either.  Snapdragons prefer full sun.  Make sure they are well watered and not allowed to dry out but don't allow the soil to become soggy either.  Less sun is not the answer.  More water is and maybe a little bit of a balanced fertilizer like a 12-12-12 (available at your local nursery) will help.  I hope this helps.
Tom
