QuestionWe live in Wisconsin, we love Lupines and would like to grow our own. We have noticed that they ONLY grow along roads that are running North and South, NEVER East and West. Why is that?
We have also noticed that they grow on hill-sides, in wet areas, shady and sunny locations but, all on N and S running roads. We can't figure this out.
Thanks in advance.
AnswerHi Lonnie,
Thanx for your question. I can tell you that while traveling through Maine, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, the plants grew along side roads whether it was north south or east west. I did not notice that they only grew in a certain direction and I remember seeing them growing along the highway in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia while traveling eastward. They like the climates of the Pacific Northwest, NE U.S. northern U.S. and SE Canada. They prefer cool, somewhat wet summers. They do not like heat or drought. I've never observed them only growing in certain directions.
