QuestionI live in western ohio and want to know if a Hibiscis bush will survive the winters here?je
AnswerAre you referring to the Tropical Hibiscus? If so,no it will not survive outdoors in your zone. I have some too and I take them indoors when the temps fall below 40. If you have it in the ground you will have to dig it up and pot it in a large pot and bring it inside. Place it in front of a sunny window or under a light. it doesn't have to be a plant light, although that would keep it blooming.
You should be able to sit it back outdoors in early summer.
It really depends on your seasons. Western Ohio is also zone 6,the same as mine in Western Kentucky. You need to make sure that it is brought in before a cold snap. Watch the weather and then to be on the safe side bring it in if the weather is supposed to drop below 40 overnight. But if it is a hardy perennial Hibiscus that get 6 to 7 feet tall,it is a true perennial and will make it just fine in colder climates.
Hope this is helful to you.
