Fuchsia

Question
I inherited what I think is a miniature fuchsia, if there is such a thing.  It has fuchsia leaves, tiny white blooms with pink centers with three stamens hanging.  If it is a miniature, how do I care for it.

I live in Dallas, Texas.

Answer
Hi Mana,
Thanx for your question.  The fuchsia does not like hot Texas summers.  You will have to bring it indoors once temps are consistently above 85 degrees.  They should never dry out but the soil should not be soggy.  They actually like a dappled shade or sun in the morning only.  No afternoon sun.  Keep the fuchsia in an east window where it will not have direct sunlight in the afternoon.  Return it outdoors in the fall until you anticipate your first frost.  In the winter it will go somewhat dormant and lose some leaves and look kind of ratty.  It will recover in the spring but remember not to put it in direct sunlight outdoors for the first 10 days.  I hope this helps.
Tom
