QuestionI am having trouble identifying foxglove seedlings - last year I bought and planted full plants, and I carefully sowed the seeds, and hope something is coming up this spring, but they all look like weeds! One of your other postings mentioned you took digital photos of the seedlings and I'd love to see them to compare to my yard if possible. Much thanks for any assistance.
AnswerMegan,
I've been there, believe me. Very frustrating when trying to identify Foxglove seedlings. They DO look like weeds and I have pulled them up myself on several occasions until I got lazy one summer on weeding and noticed a "weed" blooming beautifully. Of course it was a Foxglove. I was thrilled and learned a valuable lesson about weeding.Be careful if some weeds don't resemble others around them. I don't recall taking photos of the seedlings.I have many photos of my Foxgloves in full bloom however.Who could resist those blooms?!
But go to www.google.com and type in "Foxglove seedling identification" in the search box. I know you will come up with some photos of them.
Also when they get about several inches tall the leaves will have a woolly feel to them and as they get larger of course they get even more so. Hope this is helpful to you.
Also they may come up and look like a large leafy plant but may not bloom until next season depending on what type you planted. Good luck to you and know someone else has had success with them and they will eventually surprise and delight you!
