QuestionHi,
You just recently answered a question for me about bogonias.
Now I am wondering if I can keep my bogonias alive durning the winter. I live in Maine. Is there anything I can do to keep them alive so I can plant them outdoors again next spring.
Thanks,
Dennis
AnswerHi, Dennis,
Yes, you can bring in your begonias for the winter. When it starts getting cold at night (way before the first frost) start bringing them in at night. While they've been outside the dirt in the plants have picked up insects that lay their eggs in the dirt. When you finally bring the plant in for the season get some plant "insecticide" spikes. They are llike "fertilizer spikes" but are insecticide that doesn't hurt the plant. You won't have any of those pesky little flies all over!
Keep the plants in a south or east window-so they get the most sun possible. If you don't have such lighting, you may want to get a gro-light for them. Just keep them moist and fertilized. They may even bloom for you this winter!
