What is the cause of the lower leaves turing yellow on Columbine; the top portion seems healthy.  Thanks so much for your help.

Nothing serious. If you have recently put mulch down or if your weather has warmed up quickly that may be it. Or if it has been watered while the sun is on it like a lot of plants will do. As long as the rest of the plant looks good just snip off that yellow part.
Columbines like it a bit cooler weather but a little sun to make it bloom.
