Question -
Is there any plants that I can plant that will grow in winter that DEER would eat?
Answer -
Hi Steve,
Thanx for your question. What USDA zone do you live in? If it is too cold most things will not grow much. I live in the Kansas City area and there are some wild grasses and weeds the deer forage on during the winter. Are you wanting the deer to eat the plants or are you looking for plants that the deer won't eat? Please post a follow up.
thx,
Tom
AnswerHi Steve,
Thanx for the followup. This really isn't my expertise. Usually, I'm telling people what kind of plants to grow that deer WON'T eat. Anyway, it was an interesting hunt for information. If I were trying to keep deer fed through the winter, I would grow trees that bear nuts or acorns. Wild berry bushes, ferns, sedges and grasses. I hope this helps. I suppose you could grow vegetables like kale, lettuce, mustard greens but then you're creating an artificial environment which could cause problems for people nearby who don't want the deer eating their crops. I hope this helps.
