storing perrenial containers for winter

Question
Hi Tom

I have a small property so most of my flower gardening is of the container variety. I've recently purchased a heavy plastic Black and Decker shed. I placed all my plants into this shed for winter protection. To increase the inside temperature, a 100w trouble lamp was added. Temperatures outside will fall to -10--20 degrees celcius.  Do you think this is suffice. Many thanks

Herb Hopkins

Answer
Hi Herb,
Thanx for your questions.  Can you do a follow up and provide me with a list of the plants that are being grown in the containers?  You must live in zone 3 or 4 to have such harsh and cold temperatures.  Usually, even pot grown perennials will survive if put in a protected place as you seem to be providing.  If you are growing tender perennials this will not do.  Let me know what you are going to store and I'll try to answer your question more accurately.
thx,
Tom
