QuestionOriginally from chicago, moved to southern central Illinois, had flowers that we called"Lady Slippers", they are not the orchid. Their flowers look like a slipper, perennials, can't remember the leaf structure, the flowers are under the leafs. When the seed pods are ripe, you can just touch them and they "POP" open. They reseed profusely. Would like to grow them here. Any help would be appriciated. "Pulling" my hair out trying to research for these flowers.
One more thing the flowers are close to the stem.
Again Thank you
Elena
Answer Hi, Elena,
I will direct you to several sites to read about the flower:

This is a site that has some info on propagating the :ady's Slipper seeds:

I found a place on "eBay" where you can buy Lady's Slippers. Most sites that sell them are VERY expensive and there are very few. Check this out and see. I buy a lot of eBay and sell a lot also.
