QuestionHello! Recently we bought some land in West Tennessee and found a huge patch of buttercups blooming. I would like to move a small part of it close to our house but wondered if this was the correct time to transplant? Thank you!
AnswerHi CJ.
I love buttercups; they're so cheeful. Now should be a fine time to transplant some buttercups near your house. You should cut great chunks of plant and soil and move the whole block (the more soil, the better). You shouldn't need to do much once they're in their new home. Water them in deeply when first you move them, and that's probably about all. Do give some care that conditions from their original place and the new place are similar (sun, drainage).
There is a chance that you might not get good blooming this year, but if you're willing to wait for another year, you should have a very successful transplantation.
Good luck!
