QuestionI planted some fountain grass last summer. Do I need to cut this down in spring, or should I just leave it alone? Thank you for your help. I live in zone 7.
AnswerTeri,
You can cut it anytime between now until spring growth.I like to leave my grasses alone all winter for their pretty plumes and the texture they give to the winter landscape.
But when spring arrives, and you see some green starting to come on,then you can cut it all the way back to about 8 or 9 inches above the soil level. That will help rejuvenate the plants and they will start growing new green foliage. Have a great SPRING!
