QuestionWe have a hybrid tea rose plant that is not flowering like the other plants. Should we cut it back? Or encourage it to grow with fertilizer or something else? It's also tall and lanky. Any way to make it more full? Thank you for your time.
AnswerHello Sky,
Do you know the variety of hybrid tea? Go ahead and cut it back 8 -12 inches if there is that much wood to cut.
Next, add 1/4 cup of Epsom salt around the base and give it about a cup of Osmocote fertilizer. Water it in well and keep watered. The Epsom salt will help it put out new cane breaks at the bottom. You can use the Epsom salt on all your roses. It is just magnesium.
That should make grow. Again, if you know the type of HT please let me know. That sometimes explains alot.
Thanks,
Jay
