Question
Seven Sisters Rose
I purchased a seven sisters rose at my local nursery and planted it in full sun. The leaves are now turning yellow and wilting fast. I would love your advice on what I should do. I'm afraid I will completely kill it if I move it so soon after it was planted. Plus, I live in Florida so i'm not sure if the heat has been too much for it?? Thanks in advance!
AnswerHello Brandy,
I have several suggestions for you.
- If it is wilting and from your picture, I say it needs more water. Once a day in our heat would not be too much. Also, going from a nursery to your home may also have some transplant shock. Sometimes the plants are grown under a shade cloth and then when planted in their proper environment(full sun) it can cause the plant to wilt. The leaves falling off is actually a good sign that the plant is trying to have normal up and down flow to the roots.
Water is your main problem. And it looks like you have sandy soil that drains well.
Make sure no soil has gotten on top or around the base of your rose. That can 'smother' it as it is used to getting air from the top. If it has, just pull it away from the base of the plant.
Thanks for the picture, it helps so much.
