QuestionI bought rooted rose cuttings in little packages, some with leaves some without. i want to keep them dormant for an other month or so, so that i can transport them in my carry on when i fly home.
Should i put them in the basement which has very low light through a little window that is open or should i keep them outside under a tree? i do not want to kill them though...
the weather is warm so they are not likely to drop their leaves for few months.
AnswerHello,
Since these are seedlings, I would let them grow under the tree. They need to build up as much energy as possible before going dormant. If you are traveling with them, wrap them in newspaper making sure the leaves are well protected. That is how we have carried roses cross country in a carry on.
Once they are in their new home, pot them in a little larger pot and keep them outside until serious cold weather sets in.
Please follow up to this question> How cold does it get where they will be traveling to?
Hope that helps
