QuestionI received a miniature rose for Mother's Day. I planted it outside and it's been blooming all summer. Will it survive the winter? Is there something I can do to preserve it?
Thank you.
AnswerMini roses really don't grow well in a house as the air is too hot and dry for them. usually insects get to them as conditions are right. If you have a cold winter with snow, I would put the rose is a 12 inch pot when all the leaves fall off and it has gone dormant. Place it somewhere inside where it is cold and dark. Give it a little water each month to keep it alive. If your winter isn't a nasty type, then take some soil and mound it up to about 8 inches tall all around the mini. Again wait until all the leaves are off.
