Re planting roses

Question
Hi, I just planted 4 new bare root roses in my garden.  I realize now that my husband may have planted them too high for our zone, which is zone 4.  The bud union on a couple of these is about 3-4 inches above the soil line. Should I dig them up and re-plant them now?  Or, what other suggestions do you have?

Answer
For your zone the bud union should be below the soil line even a few inches is ideal. However if the roses are bare roots that you have planted and if they have started to leaf out, now is really not an ideal time. But if the roses were in pots, then go ahead and replant them. Make sure you keep the soil damp for at least three weeks so the feeder roots will be able to grow well after being disturbed.
