QuestionI came across some prints of roses and the writing is in an older style that is hard for me to decipher. They are prints of red roses and between my wife and myself we got 3 out of the 4 figured out. There is Fashion, High Light, Independence, and one that looks like Luvu? Lupu? and then Star. It there a rose with a two part name that starts with an L and has Star as the last part??? As you can tell we need help. Hope you can solve this for us.
AnswerNot much luck at this end. I have many rose data bases to go into but this is all I came up with. Your roses are all from American breeders and introduced between 1955 and 1960.
LULLY...1830 small double red China rose.
LUKOR...1973 rose red hybrid tea
LULZA...1886 red Hybrid Perpetual
LUCKY STAR...1936 yellow Hybrid Tea
DUFTSTAR...red
LODESTAR...red
REDSTAR...vermillion
Lots of white star names plus loads of golden star names but no red star. Sorry I couldn't help.
