QuestionI just purchased a JFK white rose plant. It's blooming and about 2ft tall. I'm about to plant it in the groung. I'm very new to gardening. I'm not sure whether to place it in a shady or sunny area. My garden has a red rose bush in shady area & a pink rose bush in sunny area. Both are thriving. Boston weather can be humid and cold. Please help. Thanks!!
AnswerRoses like to have 6 to 8 hours of full sun, then after they get that amount they will tolerate some shade. I would plant your JFK rose in lots of sun so it will do better. Because you just planted him this year, mound up some soil to about 12 inches all around the base. This will make sure the new, young roots won't freeze in the winter cold.
