QuestionI planted 3 knockout rose bushes last year. They bloomed really well the first of the summer this year but are not blooming now. I snipped off the dead blooms to tidy up the bush. Did that hurt the next bloom? I live in zone 6a according to the USDA map. Is there anything I can do to help them bloom? Thank you.
AnswerIf you are having hot weather then your roses are acting normally. It was a good idea to cut off the dead blooms but until the weather cools down they will not look good. Roses always shut down in the heat of the summer unless they are planted in some shady area. Don't worry about the roses as they are definitely not going to die.
