Roses have flowers, but limited leaves

Question
I have four rose bushes in the same area that have nice stems and bloom beautiful flowers over and over. However, there is never many leaves on the plants at all. The flowers are beautiful and there is no dead stems. Why doesn't the roses put on more leaves and fill out more. This happens every year and the plants never die and keep blooming. I have two running roses in the same area that have lots of leaves and flowers. We live on the coast in Virginia.

Answer
Rose bushes are not all the same. Some have loads of leaves almost too many while others seem very sparse looking. This is very common with hybrid teas as sometimes they can look almost sick. If the roses are all the same name then that is the problem and they are normal.  Because they are doing so well I really wouldn't worry, but if you want to make the roses bush out more, cut them back hard next spring to about 14 or 18 inches. That will also give you more leaves in proportion to the height.
