Question
One of my wife's rose bush pushed out a new shoot including flower buds, however, the entire shoot (which is about 8 inches long) turned a washed out pale green. The leaves on this shoot are starting to curl a little. The rest of the bush looks fine. Any ideas?

I haven't heard of a rose that grows a cane that is a different colour. However all roses are budded not an understock and the cane could be from the understock. If you dig down along side and see if it is coming from below the grafted bump, then it will be a sucker. But if it is originating from above the bump, it is part of the top rose.
