Rose Problem

Question
I planted a Jackson Perkins climbing rose bush last year.  It has done well this year and blooming like crazy until I came home from vacation and treated it with Bayer Rose Care that includes fertilizer and disease treatment.  All of a sudden, the plant stopped blooming, and a long shoot shot up on one side.  The plant has not grown in a climbing direction but the leaves are healthy and look good.  No bugs or disease that I can see.  Could it have been the Bayer I applied?

Answer
I have got reports on these new 3 in 1 types of sprays that have given me the impression that they may work but are harsh on the rose. Some gardeners have even said that they have killed the rose. However that could be they may have sprayed when the temperature was over 80' as you never spray when it is hot. The side shot is the fertilizer activating new growth. Your rose won't die but may be under stress and pull back on flowering as that takes the most energy of any rose plant I would wait and see but don't give it anymore fertilizer this season, only water and and it will return to normal growth.
