QuestionThank you for taking the time to answer my question. We leave in the Mid-west (Zone 5). We have a great variety of roses and try to learn every year a little bit more about them. One of our knock out roses is growing very well but its only producing lots of dark reddish foliage and only a few buds! It's in bed 5 ft from other roses which are doing very well, with the same soil and same southern exposure in a a rich soil. Puzzled new gardener!
AnswerI hope I am wrong with my answer, but it does sound like your rose has a disease called Rose Rosette. Here are some photos plus information for you from a Rose Rosette specialists. Please get back to me if that is the problem as it is a serious disease and could infect the rest of your roses. Hopefully I am wrong as sometimes in certain spring weather, roses will produce new foliage which is a rich burgundy red.
