QuestionI just plant my fairy rose shrub about 3 weeks ago and it was doing great!! I just noticed however that alot of the base leaves are turning yellow, this shrub is planted on the south side of my house and gets full sun, I've been watering it about every other day, and the temp here in southern IL has been pretty mild ( 60-70 degrees). There is a drainage pipe that runs pretty close to it but it really hasn't rained all that much lately either, and it does have some mulch around it......Help me it is covered in buds and i really would like to see it bloom instead of watching it die!! Thanks for your help
AnswerRoses hate wet roots and will respond by their leaves turning yellow. All roses go under some stress when nearly planted in a different location than her they were growing. If your temperature is mild, the rose may not need as much water as you are giving it. Roses just need the soil to be damp but not wet. Also some roses don't like to be sprayed when just planted while others will re-act to certain fertilizers when they are under stress. The Fairy is known as a fussy rose and may just be trying to adjust to it's new home. The Fairy is also one tough rose and it will not die on you but will replace the yellow leaves with new green one once it gets settles.
