QuestionMy knockout roses have stopped blooming and look wilted and poor. I have fertilized with Miracle Grow for Roses a few time but still no change. I have tried more water with no affect either. Any ideas?
AnswerWilting on roses is usually caused by something irritating the roots. It could be that if you put something extra like fertilizer, or any other chemical to help the rose grow, has caused a re-action in the roots. Also if the roses were in a pot and the soil fell away when planting, this will also caused wilting. Although it sounds kind, if a rose goes under stress and starts to wilt because of some reason, giving it some fertilizer, which is really just chemicals, will also add to the stress factor. When a rose goes into a stress mode, the roots actually shut down and they are unable to take up the water. Because I can't see the rose I can only suggest that something has fallen on the leaves ( even unusually warm weather) and caused them to wilt or there is an irritant around the rose's roots. Even a neighbour using a weed killer on their lawn will drift over and damage your roses.
