QuestionI was wondering if the soil requirements for azaleas would be compatible with knockout roses? We would like to plant some behind our azaleas. We live near Charleston, SC, so our soil is quite acidic.
AnswerRoses actually prefer the soil to be on the acid side but they will need at least 6 hours of full sun which the azaleas may not like. If your azaleas are i part shade then I wouldn't try growing hybrid teas as they will not tolerate shade. I would try some modern shrubs which will do much better if there isn't 6 hours of full sun in the area.
