Question
kordana rose
i live in Toronto Ontario, Canada. my boyfriend bought me a Kordana plant this valentines day, and it is quite chilly outside. i am growing them indoors for now, but by the window they are in it is quite chilly as well. will they be okay? how do i prevent them from wilting? when would be a good time to move them outdoors?
AnswerThe little Kordana roses are from the big nursery called Kordes in Germany. These little roses are mini modern shrubs and do very well in the garden. However outside, the colour of the flowers and the size of them may be different as they had been grown in a greenhouse. Because they are used to a greenhouse they need to be hardened before putting them outside. Placing the rose near a cold window is ideal as it will soon get used to a colder climate. To stop it from wilting, spray mist it every day as roses don't like the heat and dryness of the home. Then when it is warm enough outside, such as not more frosty nights, you can place it outside in full sun. These roses are only hardy to zone 6 which may be warmer than your zone. It will do well outside but it would be a good idea to re-pot it in a larger container. The name of your rose is Amore Kordana.
