QuestionQUESTION: hello lynette, can joseph's coat roses be a hanging roses?
ANSWER: Joseph's Coat is classified as a climber. However it really grows like a large sturdy shrub. Because the canes are thick and don't bend, it won't make a good hanging rose. I would select a floribunda that you like, plant it in a container and as it grows weight the new canes so they drape. Use small plastic bags filled with a little soil in them and tie with something soft, near the ends of the canes. Don't make them too heavy or the canes will snap.

QUESTION: hello, how large a container i should plant it in? my joseph's coat.
AnswerRose roots don't like to be hot as this will cause the tiny feeder roots to die. So you will need a container that is at least 18 inches deep but more if you have the room. Many gardeners use what is called half a barrel for climbers as in North America you can get what is called whisky barrels. They are about 2 1/2 feet across and 2 feet deep. If you can get a large container then the climber looks really attractive because you will also have room to plant some other flowers around the base of Joseph's Coat.
