QuestionI was going plant Pink Double Knockout Rose Tree in October.
I live in Staten Island, NY (zone 7).
Can I do this or it's better wait for spring time?
Thank you.
AnswerBecause rose trees are made buy using a hardy rose for the long stem and then budding a modern rose on top, the rose on top doesn't get any protection from the winter cold. Even if your Knock Out if just a tall bush that was made into a tree, it still sits up in the air and gets the full blast of the cold. In your area, I would wait until the spring so the rose could get settled in for the next winter.
