QuestionI have two William Baffin climbing rose bushes that I've had for 1 year, they are about 3 1/2 ft tall. We are building an arbor for them and I don't know when would be the best time to move them to their permanent home, in the fall or spring? Are there any special instructions on how to move them? We live in WI, zone 4. Thank you.
AnswerThe best time to move any rose in your area, because you get a very cold winter, is in the spring when it starts to thaw. If you move it in the fall, the rose won't be able to survive the winter because you can't help damaging the roots when you dig it up. Just make sure you water it well after you have moved it for about 6 weeks or if you get some really hot weather in the summer.
