QuestionA friend gave me a Florabunda Rose and it seems to be growing just fine except for the stem just under the bloom. The buds are on a strong stem but when it blooms the stem goes limp. What can i do to strengthen the stem?
AnswerWeak flower heads are usually a root problem such as, the nutrients are not getting up the cane the flower is on. Lack of enough water will cause the problem or even too much water will also do it. Hot weather is often the main cause because no matter how much water you give the rose, the flower head droops. If you just got the rose then it is re-acing to being moved and will in time strengthen up but it may take until next spring.
