QUESTION: Hi, it's been frustrating that I can't find online stores that deliver Knock out rose to Montreal in Canada. Would you let me know, if possible? Also wondering if it is feasible to buy it from US and bring to Montreal and what kind of qualification is needed for customers?

ANSWER: Hortico Nursery in Ontario, carries Knock Out and Pink Knock Out roses. They will have them available again in the fall. They send their roses via the postal service. Ordering from the States is expensive and a big headache. Many times they are sent quickly but remain for too long in customs and when you finally get them, they are ether dried out or dead. The sanitation sticker costs $35, then you pay customs to inspect the roses and finally you pay the broker to release them to you. I honestly have only heard a few good reports. I have ordered myself a couple of times and will not do it again.

We actually need it at the end of July when our high school reunion will take place and plant it as part of the ceremony. Since Hortico can't have it available till fall, do you happen to know any other Canadian nursery would have it now?

The Knock Out rose is very popular and most garden centers usually carry it. Here is a wholesale nursery that does, but I don't know how far away it is from you. It would be worth giving them a call as they would supply many of the nurseries in Montreal

Pepiniere Jasmin Ltee also carries Knock Out but as my French is weak, can't figure out if it is only wholesale. But again, they are someone who would know where to get your rose.
