QuestionI live in the Atanta Georgia area, I planted a couple of Don Juan Rose Bushes a few weeks ago and I've already had a few flowers to bloom in full. Where on the stem should these be cut, I'm afraid of messing something up if I snip in the wrong place?
AnswerThe rose myth of having to cut to a certain place on a rose cane, has now been debunked. Cutting a flower off a rose cane is the same as pruning a rose. However because it is a brand new rose plant, I wouldn't cut too long a stem. I would only cut about a 5 inch stem. Then next year you can cut to about 8 inches and when you want to dead head you can simply snap the flower off with your fingers.
