Rose Bud
My daughter called my attention to a few rose buds that are missing a few layers of petals. I will attempt to send an image. I've never seen anything like it. We live near Lubbock, Texas. What do you think could be the cause? Thank you!
AnswerIf the buds are close to the ground then it could be a small animal but it could also just be caterpillars. If it is an insect, then you will find them hiding in the ground around the base of the rose bush. If it is a small animal then there should be footprints around the rose. I would keep an eye on the roses and if it continues then try Ortho's Garden Rose Pride to solve some unknown insect problem.
