Questionstarting last year on shrub roses..new growth cane shoots are fast growing, deep red in color, leaves are misshaped and curled, also deep red in color, canes are very soft..I have cut them back but they are coming back again..plants are 8 years old, about 4 feet across and get to 4 feet high at best...but this year it has spread to another shrub rose..these are root roses and I have been applying Bayer 3 in 1 for roses for about 2 years Just southeast of Chicago
AnswerI'm afraid your roses have the rose disease called Rose Rosette. This is caused by a mite and is very serious. There is no cure for it and the rose bush should be burned. Here is a website that will explain everything for you.
