QuestionI just purchased two Pinata roses from our Home Depot and am wondering about how they will fair in zone 4a in MN. I want to use them on a new garden arbor. Will I have to remove the canes from the arbor each fall? Also, do you think they will even get to the point of filling the arbor? I am debating whether this was a good choice.
Thank You,
Rebecca
AnswerPinata is a beautiful climber but will not be hardy in your area even if you protect it. This rose needs a warmer winter than the one you have. It does well in places like Seattle. You could always grow it in a large pot and bring the pot in for the winter. There are many types of bases which have casters on them so it makes it easy to roll a container around.
