QuestionIt's been my understanding that you always prune right above the leaf with five points with a standard long stem rose bush. With a knockout, do you individually prune each small bloom? I live in Zone 6 or 7, I believe.....near Atlanta, GA. Thank you!
AnswerCutting to a leaf with five points has been debunked and now they say you can cut where you want to. You can prune your Knock Outs if you want to but they don't have to be pruned yearly. You can just prune them in the spring by cutting them down right across the top to a third or prune them back because they are getting too tall. If the bush is growing well and you are satisfied with it, then there is no need to prune. That is the beauty of the Knock out roses.
