QuestionMy White Cloud climbing roses turned red. How can I turn them back to white? The plants are 12 years old, grow in Cincinnati on a hillside of clay and receive sun most of the day.
AnswerMost roses in the States are budded onto a climber called Dr. Huey. Your rose could have died during the winter and it is the understock that is growing. Dr. Huey is a double deep red flower. The other problem could be that it has sported to a rose in it's breeding background and if that is the reason it has changed, then there should only be a few red blooms and the rest the normal white. There is a photo of Dr. Huey on my website under climbers.
