QuestionWhat would cause fresh flowers from a florist to go limp in a day or two. These are expensive roses. Thank you.
AnswerFlorist shops keep their roses in cold storage at a constant temperature so the buds won't open. It is not unusual for roses to stay fresh for about 5 days and then start to age. To help them stay fresh you have to change the water daily, add a few drops of household bleach to kill any bacteria and a teaspoon of white sugar for them to feed on. Plus you cut an inch off the stems daily. If possible I would complain to the florist. I think those roses were not fresh when you got them. They should replace them with fresh ones for you.
