Question
Old rose
I am attaching a picture of an old rose that's been in my family since before I was born and I am 50 years old. I have moved it or a piece of it, to the 2 places I have moved to since. It has a wonderful fruity fragrance and only blooms once in early May. It looks like the Gallica family but not sure. Can you identify it? Thanks
AnswerI am sure you know that to identify a very old rose is only a guess at the best. Many settlers bought seeds of roses from their homeland and planted them in their farm and many were Gallicas. My guess, and it is only a guess , would be that your rose is called Tuscany and is definitely is a Gallica.
