QuestionI have a fence that seperates my yard from my pasture. I want to plant rose bushes on that fence. I need to know if the cows will eat or otherwise bother my rose bushes?
AnswerCows are mainly browsers and just walk along munching on grass. However if they do come across something that smells appealing to them, they will pull on it. Roses are safe for humans to eat so the cows will probably like roses as there are reports that they eat the wild roses when they come across them. What will interest them most will be the new growth as they won't want to get too close to the nasty thorns to get any more leaves. They won't kill your roses if they decide to try them out so I would go ahead and plant whatever you want. There may be enough grass in the field next door to stop them getting interested in the roses.
