QuestionThis in response to the lady who was talking about her florist rose getting new growth. I too received roses that have new growth on them. Six roses, out of a dozen, have new growth on them. So far they haven't produced any roots. Would root enhancer help them to get roots? This is the first time for me to ever see it happen. Our former neighbor had a long stem rose that took root. She planted it in her front yard and it is still there. I'll have to wait and see if any of mine take root. I live in NW Arkansas. I believe that is zone 6.
AnswerHere is a really good site that will guide you through the process of making a new rose plant. However keep in mind that florist roses are not always hardy in the garden. If you are successful, I would grow the rose in a pot the first winter to make sure it will survive outdoors.
I would only use the liquid rooting hormone as the powder can sometimes clog the stems.
