QuestionRecently moved to Vancouver, WA and brought several potted rose bushes from So.Cal. There was little that needed to be done in the wintertime, but in this colder wet climate, I am at a loss as to what I need to do to care for them.
AnswerYour new area seldom gets really cold, such as below freezing so it is easy to keep roses during the winter. However if they are still in pots then I would give them a little protection over the winter because the roots are above the ground. Place all the pots together in a sheltered area and then dump some bark mulch, soil, compost, leaves anything that will cover them up to the top of the pots. When they are in the garden you don't have to do anything unless the roses are what are classified as tender such as tea roses.
